Born on 10th March, 1958 in Jaunpur (U.P.) he passed B.Sc. Agriculture from Banaras Hindu University in 1980 and M.Sc. Ag.(Horticulture) in1983 from the same university.He did his Ph. D in Biotechnology from Gauhati University in 2000.

This award is recognised by UNESCO and Ministry of Environment and Forest, Govt. of India. The award was presented by Padmashri Anna Hazare, a noted social worker from Maharashtra, India. He was the chief guest during presentation ceremony of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose National Award for Excellence and Special Appreciation award organised by Jagruthi Kiran Foundation at Nagpur (Maharashtra) to mark birth anniversary of Netaji on 23 rd January 2005. The award carried a Certificate and Momento.
